What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pilates / Barre Instructor - East Valley position at YMCA of Silicon Valley?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pilates/Barre Instructor will plan, format and instruct classes. The Instructor will be instructing and evaluating our program to ensure a safe and fun environment for the participants, in addition to other duties and responsibilities assigned at will as seen fit by the Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works with their supervisor to develop and implement age appropriate developmental curriculum; implements age appropriate enrichment activities happen according to the weekly plan
- Maintain a clean, fun and engaging environment inside the program while on duty
- Establish positive family communication and teach new skills including building relationships, social skills, independence, and self-reliance skills.
- Provide an engaging and fun experience
- Encourage and deliver positive values and build developmental assets
- Be responsible for the safety of youth and staff while reducing and managing risk
- Mentor and coach youth and peers; supervise program area; implement program curriculum that supports trying new and diverse activities as well as healthy lifestyle choices
- Commit to staying current with youth development conversations and models through continued training
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The physical demands of the position include:
- Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents
- Physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation
- Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to climb, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 35 pounds
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of two (2) years progressive experience in the desired field
- Excellent communication skills
- Energetic, Driven, Creative
- Ability to manage various age groups within a class setting
- Certified in Infant, Child, and Adult CPR and Basic First Aid (or certified within 30 days of hire).
