GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Chief Executive Director (CEO) and in accordance with Association policies, the Wellness Director is responsible for management and delivery of the YMCA wellness programs including group exercise, personal training and community health programming that is offered in both Sandusky and Ottawa Counties. The director will also manage and oversee the YMCA wellness center, free weight room and group exercise studios. This person will lead the development and implementation of innovative curriculum and activities, supervising, guiding and developing staff to ensure that participant’s development occurs in a fun, healthy and safe environment, and ensuring program outcomes are consistently achieved.
KNOW HOW
The Director must be 21 years old, a high school graduate, with current CPR, First Aid, AED and O2 certificates. Additional experience is preferred including teaching, instructing, speaking in front of small groups, supervising staff, personal training and/or group exercise leadership experience. Demonstrate proven ability to display initiative, good judgment and ability to make decisions independently. Able to demonstrate written and verbal communication skills; public speaking, capacity to prepare reports, and conduct in-service programs. Willing to possess competent computer skills in the Windows environment. Willing to learn the YMCA Operating Program and continue the YMCA Leadership Model.
JOB SEGMENTS
· Lead YMCA Wellness and Program departments by providing direction, leadership, support, and efficiencies for staff team members through strategic planning, administrative standardization, registration, quality standards, and risk management according to the YMCA of Sandusky County’s Wellness Standards.
· Ensure that daily care of members, teens and families is a key priority by showing leadership towards staff and volunteers in accordance with the organization’s policies, mission and applicable laws
· Hire, supervise, train and evaluate staff in assigned areas.
· Prepare and conduct all in-services, trainings, and meetings.
· Obtain all required chronic disease program trainings and instruct classes as needed including Diabetes Prevention, Livestrong, Youth Obesity programming, Rock Steady Parkinson’s program.
· Schedule and supervise all department staff. Fill in for absent staff as needed. Help to secure subs as necessary.
· Will input and set up all program schedules for his/her departments in computer system in a timely basis to ensure YMCA member’s ability to register as needed.
· Assists in the marketing and distribution of program and department information.
· Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations including the Senior Center, Terra State Community College and Otterbein Senior Life.
· Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
· Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
· Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
· Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
· Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
· Attend all YMCA required staff meetings.
· Assist with equipment monitoring and ordering.
· Inspect the premises daily for any hazardous conditions and report any findings to the Operations Director and appropriate supervisor.
· Requires flexible hours to work evenings and weekends as needed. Accountable for execution of policies and procedures of the YMCA.
· Any other responsibilities deemed necessary by the supervisors.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38,500.00 per year
