Position Summary

The Enrichment Specialist is responsible for designing and leading engaging enrichment programming within YMCA Summer Camp Programs and related youth programs. Specialists may focus on Academic Support (including Math and Literacy), STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math), Dance, Arts, Health & Wellness, Sports & Recreation, or other specialty areas.

Under the supervision of the Site Coordinator, the Enrichment Specialist develops and implements high-quality, age-appropriate lessons that align with YMCA curriculum guidelines and Youth Development Principles. The Specialist fosters student engagement, confidence, creativity, and personal growth while maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Programs primarily serve elementary and/or middle school youth.

Summer Camp Program dates: – June 08, 2026 - August 14, 2026

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging lessons in assigned specialty area(s).
  • Supervise youth during program time, transitions, and activities.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with Camp Coordinators and staff to ensure program quality.
  • Support family engagement events, showcases, and community activities.
  • Deliver high-quality, structured enrichment sessions that promote skill development, creativity, and confidence.
  • Incorporate project-based learning, performance-based learning, or academic intervention strategies as appropriate.
  • Align programming with YMCA curriculum guidelines and Youth Development Principles.
  • Prepare students for showcases, performances, family engagement events, or academic milestones when applicable.
  • Collaborate with Site Coordinators and program staff to ensure cohesive programming.

Salary Description

The Enrichment Specialist position offers a compensation range of $24.00 – $33.00 per hour. This rate is based on salary benchmarking for similar roles and is aligned with grant fund approvals and requirements for the position.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • 18 for elementary programs; 21 for middle school programs.
  • Associate’s degree or higher, or High School diploma/equivalent with one of the
  • following:
  • Official transcripts reflecting 48 college units plus a high school and diploma/equivalent; OR
    • AA degree or higher plus a high school diploma/equivalent.
    • Completion of the CA Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST) and a high school diploma/equivalent; OR
    • Completion of California Office of Developing Educational Services Personnel (CODESP) and a high school diploma/equivalent.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge or expertise in youth development, particularly in specialized field
  • Available Monday–Friday during program hours (7:30am-6:00pm)
  • TB Test clearance within the last 2 years (required for programs on school district sites).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with elementary or middle school-aged youth.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages preferred but not required
