Position Summary
The Digital Literacy Instructor is responsible for teaching essential technology skills to adults and seniors in the Chinatown community, enabling them to use digital tools such as computers, tablets, software, and the internet effectively and safely. This role includes developing or adapting digital literacy curriculum, delivering lessons, assessing student progress, managing classroom environments, maintaining the computer lab, and keeping accurate student records. The instructor will collaborate with program staff and volunteers to recruit participants, refine curriculum, and coordinate program efforts. This is an in-person position, 15–30 hours per week, combining direct instruction, outreach, and administrative tasks. The position is grant-funded and expected to conclude two years from the start date.
Job Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Deliver small-group classes in Cantonese focused on digital literacy, including hardware, software, internet browsers, email, and social media.
- Develop or adapt lesson plans and instructional materials to meet participant needs.
- Assess participant skill levels and tailor instruction accordingly.
Outreach & Enrollment
- Recruit participants through marketing materials, outreach events, and partnerships with internal programs and community organizations.
- Enroll participants by evaluating their abilities and device preferences and scheduling them into appropriate classes.
Program Administration
- Maintain accurate records for program evaluation and reporting to funders and leadership.
Facility & Equipment Management
- Ensure computer lab equipment is functional and classroom spaces are clean and organized.
Community Engagement & Safety
- Represent the organization in the community and with partner organizations.
- Ensure participant safety and well-being.
- Uphold organizational policies on safety, supervision, mandated reporting, and risk management.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work is performed in a classroom and computer lab setting with frequent interaction with participants.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and move within the classroom; occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs (e.g., moving equipment).

Salary Description
The salary for this position ranges from $23.00 to $25.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and internal salary benchmarking. Compensation is aligned with grant funding approval and budget availability for the position as required.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Availability Monday–Friday during business hours.
- Bilingual in English and Cantonese.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google tools; strong knowledge of computer hardware and software.
- Ability to lead small-group training sessions.
