Position: Gym Supervisor
Wage: $17.13 to $17.16 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)
Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week
Location: Tom Taylor Family YMCA, Gig Harbor, WA
Bring the energy and take the lead as our Gym Supervisor! In this role you’ll have the ability to build great relationships with members, keep games and activities running smoothly, and ensure everyone is using equipment safely and confidently. From setting up the gym to supporting leagues and special events — and making sure everything wraps up seamlessly — you’ll be the friendly, reliable presence that keeps the gym fun, safe, and ready for play.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, Oxygen, and YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguarding certifications (preferred).
- Positive attitude with previous experience working with diverse populations
- Demonstrated maturity, sound judgment, and strong decision-making skills
- Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
- Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a safe, welcoming gym environment by actively monitoring activity and guiding proper equipment use
- Build positive, supportive relationships with members and champion the Y’s commitment to serving Health Seekers
- Plan, lead, and participate in engaging programs and provide orientations for all fitness levels
- Foster and promote an inclusive, equitable environment for all
- Support branch events and take on additional responsibilities as needed

Key Responsibilities

· Monitor the gym space to ensure the safety and well-being of members. · Ensure members are using the facility and equipment in a proper manner. · Connect, interact, and develop positive relationships with members. · Create an enjoyable and welcoming environment. · Understand and actively practice our commitment to the Health Seeker by serving, building relationships, and connecting with members who struggle to maintain a healthy lifestyle. · Ability to plan, lead and participate in program activities. · Provide orientations to members of all fitness levels. · Meet performance measurement by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission. · Assist staff leadership team in reaching campaign goals through recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events. · Cleaning and sanitation protocols will be required of all staff. · Staff will be responsible for frequent touchpoint cleaning and sanitizing in specific areas. · Staff are expected to adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of PPE. · Embraces and actively promotes an inclusive and equitable work environment. · Other duties as assigned. |
