The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Program Specialist to join our team.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
As the Photographer Specialist, you will capture the energy, adventure, and everyday moments of camp through digital photography, helping tell the story of campers' experiences throughout the summer. You will sort and organize large batches of photos, complete basic editing such as light and color correction and cropping, and upload images to digital galleries for families to enjoy. As the primary staff member responsible for camp photography, you will manage photo workflows and ensure images are organized, edited, and shared in a timely and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Capture high-quality photos of camp activities, programs, and candid moments that reflect the camp's energy and spirit.
- Upload and manage digital photo galleries so campers and families can view and enjoy their camp experience.
- Work collaboratively with program staff to identify key moments, events, and activities to photograph.
- Ensure photography equipment is properly cared for, charged, and ready for daily use.
Maintain positive relationships with campers, families, and fellow staff while representing the YMCA with professionalism. - Follow all YMCA safety guidelines and remain aware of your surroundings while photographing activities.
- Be familiar with camp emergency procedures and communicate any incidents or concerns to camp leadership.
Qualifications:
- A minimum age of 21.
- Two years of experience working in a residential camp or facility is preferred.
- Knowledge of YMCA Camp Seymour's operation procedures, especially the supervision and operation of program areas or the ability to acquire that knowledge.
- The ability to effectively communicate with staff and participants of all ages.
- The ability to demonstrate a friendly, courteous and professional manner while working with members, parents, guests and staff and the ability to understand, articulate and enforce YMCA policies and procedures in a positive way.
- Current first aid and CPR certifications from nationally recognized organizations preferred.
- Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
- Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

Wage: $17.13 to $18.66 per hour, depending on qualifications (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)
Dates of Employment: June 15th - August 28th, 2026
Location: YMCA Camp Helena, Port Orchard, WA
