The YMCA of Orange County is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are actively seeking highly engaged, intentional, and service-oriented individuals for part-time Lifeguard positions.
The Lifeguard is responsible for communicating pool guidelines, guiding members away from unsafe situations, and supporting the safe use of the pool. This role is a profound opportunity to directly impact the lives of the communities we serve by fostering genuine connections, practicing exceptional hospitality, and creating a safe, positive, and enriching environment where every interaction is meaningful. This position will help to create a well-managed environment for members and youth while promoting water safety in and around the pool.
Location: Yorba Linda. During the Spring and Summer season, you may be scheduled to work at one or more of the following three sites: Yorba Linda High School, Yorba Linda Adventure Playground, or Heritage Oaks Private School.
Work Schedule: This is a seasonal position starting in late March running through August. Possibility of extending the role through October.
- Spring Shift Schedule:
- Monday – Thursday: 4:00pm - 8:00pm
- Saturday & Sunday: 11:45am - 5:00pm
- Summer Shift Schedule:
- Monday – Thursday: 11:00am - 3:30pm
- Monday – Friday: 12:30pm - 4:00pm & 4:45pm - 7:00pm
- Saturday & Sunday: 11:45am - 5:00pm
Purpose and Impact:

- Maintain vigilant surveillance, enforce aquatic safety standards, and provide clear direction that helps swimmers feel secure and supported.

- Encourage growth and skill building by supporting participants as they gain comfort, resilience, and independence through aquatic experiences.

- Foster an inclusive, community focused atmosphere by engaging respectfully with members and families, ensuring everyone feels valued and connected.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum Age: 15 and a half with a valid work permit.
- Experience & Skills:
- Prior swim experience required.
- Experience in customer service and aquatics preferred.
- Excellent communication skills essential.
- Certifications:
- YMCA, Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (training provided and paid for by the YMCA).
- First Aid and CPR certifications required (training provided and paid for by the YMCA).
- Completion of in-water skills swimming and skills test required.
