The YMCA of Orange County is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are actively seeking highly engaged, flexible, and service-oriented individuals for seasonal Cabin Counselor positions.
In this position, you will be responsible for youth supervision and the coordination of activities at camp. This role is a profound opportunity to directly impact the lives of the communities we serve by fostering genuine connections, practicing exceptional hospitality, and creating a safe, positive, and enriching environment where every interaction is meaningful. During each camp session, the Cabin Counselor is assigned and responsible for a small group of campers, allowing interaction and rapport development with individual cabin campers. Living in the cabin with your group of campers for the entire camp session is required.
Location: YMCA Camp E.L.K. in Wrightwood, CA
Work Schedule:
- Looking for seasonal staff who are available to work June 20th through July 25th.
- Must be available full length of camp.
Purpose and Impact:
- Build Cabin Belonging:
- Live in cabin as a steady role model and support system. Guide campers through meals, cabin clean up, hygiene, rest hour, and transitions so they feel known, included, and ready for each day.
- Cultivate a Safe & Supportive Environment:
- Maintain safe cabins and activity spaces by identifying hazards, setting boundaries, and upholding YMCA standards. Support campers’ well-being through proactive supervision, healthy routines, and timely reporting of accidents, illnesses, or concerns.
- Model Leadership:
- Demonstrate honesty, respect, responsibility, and professionalism in all interactions. Uphold camp expectations through dependable teamwork, strong communication, and consistent support for campers and staff throughout each day.
- Inspire Growth:
- Facilitate purposeful activities and curriculum that spark growth, teamwork. Offer consistent encouragement, positive reinforcement, and behavior guidance so each camper gains confidence and leaves with memorable progress.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum Age: 18 years.
- Certification & Skills:
- Completion of camp training session required.
- Experience working with youth preferred.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to aid in facilitating an empowering organized program through teaching, encouragement, and support.
- First Aid and CPR Certification (will be able to obtain during summer camp staff training).

Salary : $18 - $20
