What are the responsibilities and job description for the Branch Operations Leader position at YMCA of Northwest North Carolina?
The Branch Operations Leader is responsible for the overall well-being of the facility and all YMCA members and guests. They are mature, dependable and display wise management of all logistics. The role of the Branch Operations Leader is to support all operating areas of the YMCA during their shift. This person should be highly relational but also have the ability to manage a comprehensive schedule of activities and programs. Exercises sound fiscal management. Ensures effective branch operations by performing the essential and marginal responsibilities below and the specific responsibilities detailed on any applicable supplemental fact sheet(s). Responsible for other duties as assigned.
The schedule is for evenings and weekends.
Essential Functions
Greet members and guests as they enter/leave the YMCA
Remain visible and be available to support staff during shift
Provide Y-Greets for potential members
Be cross trained and able to assist in all departments as needed including, but not limited to Membership, Wellness, and Kids Zone.
Observe the whole facility consistently throughout the shift
Ensure prompt cleanup of areas requiring attention and report housekeeping issues to the Budd Group personnel for follow up.
Report maintenance or repair work needs to the Executive Director/Associate Executive Director.
Follow established YMCA policy and guidelines with regard to accidents, injuries or incidents including the filing of appropriate incidents reports and notification to appropriate department supervisors. The Branch Operations Leader is in charge of all emergencies, especially when a director is not on site.
Ensure proper response to fire alarms and security breaches
Serve as the primary responder to facility operation incidents
Review all incident reports for completeness (including securing locker rooms, acquiring signatures and getting contact information for members)
Ensure all doors are properly secured prior to closing in the evenings. This should be done at the end of the shift.
Consistently check the exterior doors to ensure they are not propped open so that non-members cannot sneak in.
Provide responses to concerns of members as they arise.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Branch Operations Leader has no direct reports so the ability to develop relationships and inspire others through influence and collaboration is crucial.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
18 years of age or older
Customer service experience required
Computer skills and the ability to learn appropriate computer programs related to the position
Excellent customer service skills
Strong verbal communication skills
Outgoing personality and a desire to be helpful to others
Must be able to stand for the majority of shift
Bilingual is a plus
DAXKO skills a plus
Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/Oxygen administration or obtain certification within 30 days of hire
Other YMCA-required training and certifications, as applicable
Physical Demands
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
