The YMCA of Middletown is looking for individuals who enjoy working with children in a school setting. The programs run from 7:00 am to the start of school and from the end of the school day until 6:00pm. Some training required but is compensated for. Programs only run when school is open! no holidays or weekends. Locations are available in Sullivan County in the following school districts:

JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Before/After School Counselor
REPORT TO: Program Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
Staff members oversee the safety and supervision while assisting with the program planning for a group of children ages 5 to 12 in accordance with YMCA guidelines and state licensing requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Planning and implementation of specific group activities is the primary function of this position.
2. Staff will undergo professional preparation to be a leader of young children.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with experience working with children, or a strong desire to start a career within childcare.
2. Applicants should have a warm, friendly, assertive personality; be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others; be able to relate well to children; and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with program goals.
3. Certification in CPR and First Aid is strongly recommended.
