Role Description
This is a part time on-site Lifeguard role based in Smyrna, TN. The Lifeguard will uphold the YMCA’s commitment to safety by monitoring the pool area and enforcing facility policies to ensure the welfare of all members and guests. Responsibilities include supervising swimming activities, preventing and responding to emergencies, executing rescues when necessary, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the aquatic area. The Lifeguard will also assist in building a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports the YMCA's values and mission.

Qualifications
- Experience in lifeguarding, swimming skills, and water safety, with current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain cooperative and respectful relations with members and colleagues
- Ability to remain alert, respond effectively in emergencies, and enforce safety protocols
- Excellent attention to detail and observational skills
- Dedication to creating a safe, inclusive, and positive environment in alignment with the YMCA's core values
- Previous experience in a community-based or customer service role is an advantage
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
