Position Type: Seasonal, May - August  - Applicant needs to be at least 18 years of age and have 460 hours varied work experience with youth 5 -12 years of age.

Schedule: This is a seasonal position with hours ranging Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:30 PM. Actual schedules will vary based on program needs and assigned site placement. 

  • Before Care - 6:30am - 8:30am
  • Camp hours - 8:45am - 4:00pm
  • After Camp hours - 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Locations: This position is being promoted regionally; however, applicants will be assigned to one of the following sites within their district: 

 

 

  • Adams County

    • Trailside Academy - 2300 W. 67th Dr., Denver 80221 

    • Reunion Rec Center - 17910 Parkside Dr. N, Commerce City 80022

Site placement will be determined based on program needs, staffing, and applicant preferences when possible. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Program Lead, Seasonal (Camp) working as part of the YMCA Center team, will help deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. Under the direction of the Site Director, the Program Lead is responsible for supporting the delivery of the OST program which includes behavior management and participant safety. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Assist in developing, planning, and implementing daily activities, in-service days, in accordance with YMCA philosophy and state licensing requirements
  • Implement risk management to provide safety and well-being of all children 
  • Integrate YMCA character development program into daily programming  
  • Assist Supervisor and help to observe behavior, activities, and engagement for groups of up to 15 youth.
  • Proactively clean and/or repair program areas; maintain supplies and equipment
  • Attend all training courses, staff meetings and in-services without exception 
  • Follow dress code; require staff to adhere with staff shirts, name badge, closed-toes shoes 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays in accordance with location volume and events 
  • Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA Annual Support Campaign, and general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, and emergency plans 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device   

  • Frequently required to sit, reach and must be able to move around the work environment   

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds  

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and focus   

  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 18 years of age 
  • High school diploma or equivalent  
  • 3 months (460 hours) experience working with children under 13 years of age required; experience in a youth centered educational learning environment preferred. Verified experience prior to hire  
  • Group management, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills 
  • Experience creating interactive and educational activities, youth development, academic enrichment and arts 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays in accordance with location volume and events  
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire
