POSITION SUMMARY:
The Torigian Family YMCA is seeking a lifeguards to join our aquatics team and help us keep our commitment to water safety, youth development, and exceptional member service. Qualified candidates are 16 years old or older, have current lifeguard certification or willingness to become certified, and a desire to work with people from a variety of backgrounds, build relationships, and the ability to manage a safe and supervised pool area. Under the direction of the Aquatic Director(s), the lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons in the aquatic area. While on duty, a lifeguard has a legal and moral obligation to take action to protect all swimmers and patrons in the aquatic area and to respond to emergencies per YMCA and American Red Cross protocols. Maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas is a primary priority.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area.
2. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required.
3. Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
4. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
5. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
6. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
7. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving including inspecting safety equipment.
8. Performs chemical testing when arriving, as required, and takes appropriate action.
9. Attends all staff meetings and training as required continually building a lifeguard and first aid skill set.
10. Documents all paperwork by utilizing incident reports
11. Complete all other tasks as assigned by Sr. Aquatics Director and Aquatics Director
Salary : $15 - $18
