What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gymnastics Team Coach position at YMCA of Metro North?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide leadership, instruction and motivation for participants on the Gymnastics Team. Demonstrate and promote healthy and active living.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Learn USAG rules and routines as needed for the levels you are coaching.
- Learn/maintain proper spotting techniques
- Develop positive relationships with students, parents and co-workers.
- Convey information on gymnastic programs and schedules.
- Maintain records as required, (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc).
- Attend Staff meeting and training as scheduled
- Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
- Complete incident and accident report as necessary
- Organize and put away needed equipment, and report damaged equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Knowledge of correct spotting techniques.
· A background in competitive gymnastics is preferred.
· Excellent communication skills and basic conflict resolution skills so as to handle difficult individuals in the most professional manner.
· USAG Safety Certification, CPR/AED and First Aid within 30 days of hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand for a period of time as dictated by the duration of your shift.
- Ability to instruct, observe and spot participants in proper gymnastic techniques.
- Ability to lift equipment and to lift a small to average size child.
