Specifically, we are looking for counselors who have high energy, who are willing to play games, teach life skills through healthy activities and most important be a role model for our campers. Hiring Process: Potential Counselors must submit an application and resume. Your application materials will be reviewed, and we will determine whether we feel that you would be a strong candidate for Camp Melstone. If so, we will contact you for a interview. If you are a candidate for hire, we will run a Criminal Background check (CORI and SORI) and check four references. Once your background is clear and your references are excellent we will offer you a position to work at camp.
The Camp runs from 7:45 am to 4:15 pm, Monday through Friday. Applicants must be available during these days/times as schedule varies week to week. Staff hours are dependent upon camper enrollment numbers but can be between 20 and 45 hours a week. There are mandatory trainings prior to the start of camp that must be completed in order to work. If unable to attend these trainings staff are ineligible to work. Trainings will be held within the month of June. First Aid and AED training will be offered numerous times!
Day Camp Counselor
General Function: The counselor will help supervise and lead a group of youth in daily activities. The counselor must have a positive outlook on summer activities and be willing to help children grow to their full potential. Staff will provide a safe and nurturing environment for youth and will be actively involved and have a positive attitude about all Camp Melstone formalities and activities.
Entry Requirements
· Prior childcare experience preferred.
· At least 15 years of age.
· Ability and experience in supervising and leading children.
· Good role model, high integrity, and adaptable.
· Sound judgment, integrity, problem solving skills and risk management.
· Human relation skills with general public and staff.
· Creative program planning and implementation.
· Ability to understand and follow directions.
· Positive attitude and ability to build a cohesive team.
· Willingness to go above and beyond the written job description.
* Ability to work Monday through Friday, 7:45am-4:15pm – schedules ill vary week to week.
· Current First Aid and CPR certifications. (We provide training if you do not have it yet).
Salary : $15 - $17
