FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Part-time flexible. Hours fluctuating up to 7 hrs. & beyond per week

POSITION SUMMARY:
Within this position lies the responsibility to develop, plan, lead, evaluate and participate in program operations of the Youth Sports programs including but not limited to Preschool Sports and other youth sports program and events. Reports directly to the YMCA Sports and Recreation Director and works cooperatively with other department staff. Work time/place schedule may be flexible, with some set office hours each week and some hours worked offsite. Total hours worked many fluctuate dependent on factors including but not limited to NSDSC days and related assigned incidental task(s) for performing the whole job. Must demonstrate and enforce the core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Organize and lead a variety of sports activities appropriate for the age of the participants.
2. Design effective written program plans and preps materials.
3. Establish a positive and friendly relationship with participants and community members.
4. Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
5. Provide participants with a safe space to work through trauma and adversity and obtain needed social and emotional skills.
6. Maintain accurate program records including but not limited to incident reports, attendance rosters, and behavior reports.
7. Ensure that the site is kept clean and organized.
8. Evaluate the programs on a continuous basis and recommend needed changes to the Sports and Recreation Director.
9. Follow all program policy and procedures including Child Abuse Prevention Policies.
10. Performs other duties assigned by the Sports and Recreation Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Never convicted of any child abuse including sexual abuse.
2. Experience and proven skills working with youth.
3. Support and promote the youth sports programs throughout the community.
4. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications must be completed within 60 days of hire (YMCA provided).
5. High degree of tact and knowledge of working with a diversity of people and organizations.
6. Passionate about working with youth in a sport/recreation setting.
7. Ability to follow multiple procedures and complete work in a professional, accurate, and timely manner.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Is a self-starter and has the ability to work both independently and in teamwork settings.
10. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of the position. Ability to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs). Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time. Calmly and effectively react in an emergency situation as well as work in a noisy, busy environment
