Position Summary

The Advancement Engagement Coordinator supports the YMCA of Greater San Francisco’s fundraising and engagement initiatives, fostering a culture of philanthropy across 15 branches. This role manages annual giving programs—including the Community Campaign, Giving Tuesday, membership giving, and other donor engagement opportunities—focused on donors contributing between $100 and $5,000.


Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement Operations & Engagement, the Coordinator collaborates with branch staff, marketing, and Major Gift Officers to plan and execute mission-driven campaigns. Responsibilities include coordinating appeals, marketing efforts, stewardship activities, and scheduling engagement opportunities for donors, volunteers, and members. The role also provides administrative support to ensure smooth operations across fundraising and engagement initiatives.


Job Responsibilities

Annual Giving & Campaign Management

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate the annual Community Campaign across all branches, providing tools, resources, and guidance.
  • Lead Giving Tuesday and other broad-based appeals, coordinating messaging, timelines, outreach strategies, and donor communications.
  • Manage donor segmentation, data pulls, acknowledgment processes, and gift tracking for contributions between $100 to $5,000.
  • Monitor campaign progress and provide regular reports, dashboards, and budget tracking to leadership and branch teams.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to align messaging and create compelling donor materials and stories.
  • Oversee peer-to-peer fundraising programs, including system setup, training, and ongoing support for staff and volunteers to maximize engagement and results.


Donor Engagement, Stewardship & Scheduling

  • Develop and implement strategies to cultivate, recognize, and retain annual donors and members.
  • Coordinate scheduling of donor meetings, branch-level engagement events, and volunteer participation.
  • Ensure timely donor acknowledgment, recognition and reporting.
  • Train and support staff and volunteers in donor engagement best practices.


Collaboration & Administrative Support

  • Serve as the liaison to branch campaign leads, providing coaching, resources, and campaign performance updates.
  • Partner with Advancement, Marketing, and Operations teams to create cohesive donor journeys and unified communications.
  • Maintain data integrity, tracking, reporting, and budget monitoring for annual giving programs through CRM systems and donor databases.
  • Contribute to special projects and initiatives that advance the YMCA’s mission and Vision 2030 philanthropic goals.
  • Promote staff and volunteer engagement across all campaigns, fostering collaboration and accountability.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or related field or equivalent professional and community experience.
  • 2–4 years of experience in annual giving, fundraising, or nonprofit development.
  • Ability to manage multi-channel fundraising campaigns and donor communications.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; comfort working with branch leaders, volunteers, and donors.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in donor databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce), Microsoft Office, and digital communication tools.
  • Passion for the YMCA’s mission and commitment to equity, community, and belonging.


Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • This position operates in a professional office setting and occasionally at branch locations or community events.
  • Requires frequent collaboration with staff, volunteers, and donors in person, via phone, and through digital platforms.
  • Standard work hours apply, with occasional evenings or weekends for events or campaign activities.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 pounds for events or campaign setup.
  • Frequent movement between office and event locations; ability to travel locally between branches as needed.

Salary Description

The Advancement Engagement Coordinator position offers an hourly rate of $35.50 - $39.00 per hour based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with salary benchmarks for similar roles.
