Position Description

Join the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City as a Group Exercise and Active Aging Coordinator, where you will play a vital role in promoting health, wellness, and active lifestyles within our community. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead engaging fitness programs tailored to diverse age groups, fostering a welcoming environment that encourages lifelong health and well-being.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, and lead group exercise classes suitable for various age groups, including seniors and adults.
• Promote active aging initiatives to enhance the physical, mental, and social well-being of participants.
• Assess participants' fitness levels and tailor programs to meet individual needs and goals.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating environment during all classes and activities.
• Collaborate with staff and community partners to organize special events, workshops, and wellness programs.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, participant progress, and program outcomes.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed and equipment is properly maintained.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid. (Training provided by the Y, if needed)
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Certification in group exercise instruction (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM) required.
• Experience working with older adults and designing age-appropriate fitness programs preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and engage diverse populations.
• Knowledge of safety standards and proper use of fitness equipment.
• Passion for promoting active aging and community health.
