Overview

Are you passionate about working with preschoolers and making a meaningful impact in your community? The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is hiring an Early Learning Site Supervisor to lead daily operations and supervise associates at a preschool program. This position is located at Prairie View Elementary in the Lee's Summit R-7 School District. Our program provides care before school, after school or both to those who are enrolled in the LSR7 School District.

Responsibilities

Classroom Environment & Inclusion

  • Demonstrate a commitment to belonging and inclusion by creating an environment where all children, including those with special needs and challenging behaviors, feel welcome, supported, and valued.
  • Consistently demonstrate positive interaction with all children; talk to them and treat them with dignity and respect.
  • Consistently demonstrate positive discipline; teach and redirect rather than scolding or reprimanding; firmly and consistently enforce the rules.
  • Keep a consistent headcount on all children present at site; communicate changes with all other associates.
  • Implements a system for supervision for areas specific to site such as playground and bathrooms to ensure children are never left unattended or placed at risk.

Program Operations & Safety

  • Ensures that the program is operated in a safe and purposeful manner, ensuring that all licensing and YMCA guidelines are met or exceeded.
  • Follows up and reports on absent children to ensure the child’s safety.
  • Positively ID individuals picking-up before releasing children (picture ID necessary until you can personally identify them).
  • Mandated to report suspected child abuse and neglect and must notify appropriate associates of any suspected abuse.
  • Maintains accurate attendance, and sign-in/sign-out records, including the daily required sign-in/out sheet with parent or guardian’s signature.
  • Monitors equipment and facilities for safety and security purposes and addresses concerns promptly.
  • Completes all state licensing, financial, and Y reports in an accurate and timely manner and critical incident reports within 24-hours.
  • Manages associate-to-child ratios within licensing standards and according to Y policies for site coverage.
  • Maintains financial records and monitors bi-weekly fee payment process for site, including accounts receivables. Collects bi-weekly fees and turns checks in on a regular basis.
  • Provides tours to prospective parents.
  • May manage and plan No School Days at the consolidated site.

Planning & Professional Responsibility

  • Manages and oversees observational tools through training and mentoring new leads on it’s use, checking input weekly, and assuring portfolios for all children are maintained.
  • Offers two parent/teacher conferences each school year.
  • Develops relationships and work with prospects, program parents, associates, school staff, district representatives, and state licensing representatives.
  • Attends all mandatory associate in-service and training events and maintains training requirements for licensing.
  • Communicates important program issues and information to supervisors.
  • Be prompt and dependable to work scheduled hours.
  • Monitors hours, submits adjustment forms, and reports associate absences in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Organizes and meets fundraising site goal and oversees the recruitment of at least one parent volunteer from the program to assist with meeting the goal.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Attends all Site Supervisor meetings and communicates relevant information to site associates.
  • Completes supply and equipment requests accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Make available to associates the required Health and Safety training through the state of Kansas. Educate associates in the appropriate developmental stages, and the proper classroom structure/ schedule based on these states. Provide guidance for associates with classroom situations.
  • Visit the classrooms on a regular basis, with interaction with both associates and children. Assist in classrooms to maintain proper ratio.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications to meet state licensing requirements for Program Director approval in the state of Missouri at the capacity of the site. Click here for requirements.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in a group setting.
  • Experience in understanding and applying the principles of development and programming for early learning.
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship building and leadership skills, preferably in working with families, building administrators.
  • Knowledge of state licensing standards and commitment to adhere to said standards.
  • Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
  • Commitment and desire to provide quality early learning programming at all levels.
