POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Facilities Director, this position represents a front-line point of contact responsible for assisting in supervising custodial-related functions of the Facilities department. It is the goal of the Facilities department to provide exceptional response to other departments’ needs and concerns throughout the facility. An ability to establish and maintain positive relationships is critically important. The Facilities department primarily functions as a support system for all other departments, programs and areas that require cleaning, repair, set-up/breakdowns, preventative maintenance, or assistance related to the day-to-day operation of our facilities. This will result in superior service while ensuring quality standards are implemented and maintained in all areas. This is a working supervisory position providing direction to subordinates while leading by example and in all areas of responsibility. Attention to detail is a requirement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. This position assists in the coordination and supervision of part-time staff and related tasks. This position also serves as primary back-up in the absence of the Facility Director, including sharing on-call responsibilities when necessary.

  1. This position has scheduled hours from Sunday-Thursday afternoon into evening. A requirement of this position is the ability to be available off shift hours based on facility needs.

  1. This position requires assistance in all grounds-related work such as snow shoveling, leaf blowing, grounds cleanup etc.

  1. Assists and coordinates with the Facility Director identifying, troubleshooting, resolving and the prevention of maintenance related issues and concerns.

  1. Provides program area set-ups and breakdowns for all facilities and grounds, whether on or off site (i.e., meeting rooms, meals, special events, day camps).

  1. Responsible for material handling and inventory (consumables such as paper towels, chemical supplies, and general product inventories.)

  1. Assists in the performance of preventive maintenance and repairs in facility and associated equipment (Pool equipment, RTU periodic maintenance, filter changes etc.)

  1. Follows all Association and departmental safety procedures and resolves staff and member safety issues that arise within the standards set by the branch/Association.

  1. Monitors cleanliness, aesthetics of campus grounds and equipment by conducting routine rounds and inspections in accordance with standards set by the branch/ Association.

  1. Ability to work independently, leading by example. Responsible for the supervision of a cross section of staff and volunteers.

  1. Ensure a safe, clean environment for staff and customers by continually monitoring all facility areas for safety considerations and taking prompt action to resolve any issue needing attention in consultation with the Facility Director.

  1. Consistently provides friendly, courteous assistance, exceeding expectations every day by the nurturing, development, and maintenance of healthy professional relationships with parents, children, staff, and host agencies.

  1. Responsible for emergency spill and Blood Borne Pathogen clean-up (training provided).

  1. Maintain education/knowledge to ensure facility is compliant with current city, state, and local safety, maintenance, and custodial requirements.

15. Ensures all Association equipment is maintained and inspected, and that accurate records are kept in accordance with Association standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Attention to detail is a requirement of this position as well as the ability to demonstrate this approach in day-to-day responsibilities.

• Ability to adapt to new processes and procedures striving for continuous improvement.

• Valid CT Driver's License and transportation.

• CPR/First aid certification or ability to obtain within 90 days. (provided)

• Prior commercial housekeeping experience and the ability to demonstrate such skills.

• Prior subordinate supervisory experience preferred.

• Experience in basic carpentry, plumbing, mechanical and preventative maintenance is required.

• Ability to work with products related to housekeeping, maintenance, and grounds.

• Willingness to share on call duties and work off shifts occasionally if needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, pull, push, and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
