POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for conducting American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR training courses.
JOB LOCATION: Various locations in the Des Moines Metro
HOURLY RATE: $19.00-$22.50/hour based on experience
HOURS/DAYS SCHEDULE: Weekday evenings and/or Weekends; number of hours varies based on class schedule and your availability. Minimum of four courses a year, with more hours available for candidates if wanting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare training site and materials for each course
- Conduct required training courses according to American Red Cross standards
- Follow process / procedures for submitting the completion records, course course evaluations, and participant evaluations after each course.
- Notify supervisor of any training supply needs and if issues with equipment.
- Follow all YMCA of Greater Des Moines' policies, procedures, operating standards, and emergency procedures.
- Attend team meetings, trainings, and events assigned by the supervisor or designated staff person.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.
- Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions
- Perform basic computer skills such as using the computerized time clock and online training requirements.
- Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid r.25 or Lifeguard Instructor r.24
- Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certification - prior to starting
- Child Abuse Prevention Training - prior to starting if hired
- Additional training to be completed within the first 30 days and maintained afterwards

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
- Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively with people and monitor property and activity
- The employee must have the ability to adapt to frequently changing working conditions and to work a flexible schedule.
