Position Summary
The Director of Youth/Family programs is responsible for leading and supervising the pathway/child care and teens departments of assigned areas. The Director of Youth/Family programs is responsible for the development, organization and implementation of high quality youth, teens, families programs such as
Leaders Club, Achievers, Youth In Government, Model UN, Teen Café. The Director of Youth/Family program will have direct responsibility for directing the YMCA Core Teen Leadership programs.
Essential Functions
Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success.
Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; oversight of the scheduling the needed facilities.
Collaborates with YMCA leadership and fund development staff to identify funding opportunities to ensure program sustainability.
Develop, manage and maintain relationships with school administration, parents' groups, other organizations and agencies related to program areas.
Supervise employees in assigned accountabilities, monitor program operation, scheduling and verify time sheets and actual hours worked.
Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed at all times.
Serves as Cause Driven Leader on Duty (CDLOD) during scheduled shifts
Adhere to Blood borne Pathogen standards and attend annual training.
Ensure all classes taught are in accordance with YMCA of Cleveland standards and guidelines.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree in the related field and 2-3 years of related work experience or High School diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency and 4-6 years of related work experience.
Experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience in the supervision in customer service and/or program management preferred.
Certification(s) & Requirements
Minimum 2 years’ programming experience.
CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire
Technical Skills And Knowledge
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Must be able to effectively motivate management level staff to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
Must have ability to create and deliver innovative program/marketing strategies.
Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of software packages and ability to analysis financial information.
Self-motivated team player.
Must be able to model the key
Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics.
Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process: completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department (s).
