What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Instructor-ME Lyons YMCA position at YMCA of Greater Cincinnati?

Key Responsibilities
· Instruct swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
· Models equity, inclusion and cultural competence in developing positive relationships with participants and provides motivations support and guidance.
· Encourages member and parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
· Conveys basic information regarding aquatic programs schedules.
· Maintains records as required (ie attendance, progress reports etc.)
· Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
· Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures including emergency and safety procedures. Completed incident and accident reports as necessary.
· Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
· Trains and supervises water safety assistant as necessary.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 15 years of age to assist another instructor; 16 years of age to instruct own class.
· Certifications: Current state approved first-aid; CPR for the Professional Rescuer; YMCA Swim Instructor certification
· Demonstrated ability to teach the development of swimming skills and ability to instruct/observe participants in proper stroke technique.
· Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size weight.
