What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Staff-21st Century-KY/OH Schools position at YMCA of Greater Cincinnati?
Key Responsibilities
- Assists with the day-to-day operation of the site, meeting all state, local, and YMCA standards.
- Maintains accurate classroom records as assigned, within state, local and YMCA standards.
- Follows program curriculum in a developmentally appropriate manner, meeting the individual physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the participants.
- Responsible for maintaining scheduled staff-to-child ratios, as specified by the 21st century grant by providing attentive and alert supervision.
- Manages the classroom’s resources responsibly.
- Assists in implementing program curriculum, activities, experiences, and routines, under the guidance of the 21st Century Site Coordinator and 21st Century Teachers.
- Facilitates a high quality program environment that invites exploration, promotes positive play, and welcomes children.
- Assists in facilitating a positive site environment and the development of self-control in children using positive guidance techniques; expectations match and respect children’s developing capabilities.
- Upholds the Association’s Child Protection policies, child abuse and neglect guidelines, and proper reporting procedures are always upheld.

Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older preferred. If under 18, will always work alongside an adult staff member.
- High School Diploma or have completed a GED program approved by the State Department of Human Services or the State Board of Education
- Must possess current CPR and First Aid certification or be willing to obtain.
- Must possess and demonstrate ability to engage in all activities associated with the daily care, activities, and routines of the program’s children including but not limited to: interacting with children at floor level, physical education activities such as running, jumping, etc., lifting children and or equipment, and participating in outdoor activities, field trips and swimming as needed
- Must possess oral, auditory, and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults, including communicating with the 21st Century Site Coordinator, 21st Century Teachers, and other staff members.
