What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Custodian position at YMCA of Florida's First Coast?
Essential Functions:
1. Completes all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains assigned areas and equipment. Duties include wet and dust mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning classrooms, restrooms, cafeteria, offices, hallways, windows, and common areas; trash removal; recycling; painting; and general cleaning.
2. Removes trash from classrooms, restrooms, offices, common areas, and the cafeteria; assists with cafeteria cleanup after meals and special events.
3. Performs basic handyman and daily maintenance work around campus, including minor repairs, touch-up painting, assembling items, replacing simple fixtures or supplies, and other repairs as directed.
4. Moves furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials as needed; assists with deliveries, event set-up, classroom set-up, and campus projects.
5. Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment safely.
6. Records and reports all needed repairs; completes repairs as directed and escalates safety hazards promptly.
7. Ensures the YMCA school building and property are secure during shift and reports incidents, spills, leaks, standing water, storm-related concerns, and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
8. Replaces soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, trash liners, cleaning supplies, and other supplies.
9. Supports groundskeeping and Florida weather-related campus readiness, including lawn care, clearing walkways, removing debris, and preparing for or cleaning up after heavy rain.

Qualifications:
1. Six months or more of related custodial, maintenance, facilities, or school campus experience preferred.
2. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
3. Ability to report and record maintenance requests, repairs, supply needs, and safety concerns.
4. Knowledge of cleaning methods/equipment and safe use of cleaning compounds/chemicals.
5. Basic understanding of upkeep and care of school facilities and equipment.
6. Ability to perform basic handyman/maintenance tasks and use common hand tools safely.
7. Ability to work respectfully and professionally with students, families, staff, and visitors.
Physical Demands:
1. Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform essential duties, including moving furniture, supplies, equipment, and delivery items.
2. Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to thirty feet.
3. Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
4. Ability to paint, clean equipment, make minor repairs, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
5. Ability to work in conditions that create dirt and dust and in Florida weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and heavy rain.
6. Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not be limited to: reaching overhead; crouching; kneeling; carrying; working in narrow and/or confining spaces, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
