Position Summary
The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) Staff supports the daily operation of a compliant, safe, and welcoming meal service program for youth. Service guidelines while fostering a positive and inclusive environment aligned with YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Essential Functions
- Assist with the implementation of NSLP meal service, including supporting students through the serving line to ensure selection of reimbursable meals.
- Adhere to local health department regulations and food safety standards (HACCP principles).
- Communicate with food service staff regarding student needs, supply levels, and service flow issues. Maintain cleanliness in food prep and dining areas.
- Create a welcoming, respectful dining experience for all participants.
- Model positive behavior and inclusive communication with youth.
- Support a safe and emotionally supportive environment during mealtimes.
- Report shortages or concerns to supervisor.
- Help minimize waste and promote efficient use of resources.
- Other duties assigned by manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and compliance standards.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Previous food service or school nutrition experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of USDA National School Lunch Program guidelines (Preferred).
- Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass a drug screen.
- Must pass Level 2 Background Screening. Level 2 is a fingerprint check of state and federal criminal history information conducted through the Florida Department of law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). https://info.flclearinghouse.com
