Hourly Range $20-$23 . Final compensation is based on factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
Essential Responsibilities
STAFF LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT
• Lead and support aquatics staff by recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, supervising, coaching, developing, and recognizing assigned team members in accordance with YMCA policies and standards.
• Foster a positive, inclusive team culture grounded in open communication, relationship building, and YMCA values.
• Lead regular staff meetings, in-services, drills, and training activities to strengthen staff knowledge, performance, and emergency preparedness.
• Provide day-to-day coaching and performance feedback to aquatics staff and communicate significant performance concerns or development needs to the Aquatics Director.
• Demonstrate and model YMCA values and relationship-building practices, including Listen First, in interactions with members, participants, families, staff, and community partners.
AQUATICS OPERATIONS & ADMINISTRATION
• Oversee daily aquatics operations for assigned program areas, including staffing, scheduling, coverage, program delivery, and operational needs.
• Monitor program participation, attendance, staffing, and required documentation to support program quality, accountability, and accurate record keeping.
• Communicate and implement YMCA policies, procedures, and operational updates, ensuring staff understanding and compliance.
• Maintain aquatics records and documentation, including certifications, training records, safety documentation, incident reports, and other required records.
• Maintain assigned direct service hours and provide operational coverage as needed.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends based on program and operational needs.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & GROWTH
• Support the Aquatics Director in achieving departmental goals and budget targets, monitoring performance, addressing operational needs, and implementing strategic priorities.
• Lead assigned programs and teams to achieve or exceed participation, revenue, service, and member experience goals.
• Ensure high-quality program delivery through ongoing evaluation, staff development, innovation, and responsiveness to member and community needs.
• Provide recommendations to the Aquatics Director regarding program performance, participation, member feedback, staffing, operational concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
• Identify and support sustainable program growth opportunities based on community need, member demand, staffing resources, and pool capacity.
MEMBER, FAMILY & DEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS
• Respond to member, participant, parent/guardian, and staff feedback and concerns in a timely and professional manner, resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating significant concerns as appropriate.
• Communicate with participants, families, instructors, Membership staff, Facilities, and other YMCA departments regarding schedules, program changes, operational needs, concerns, and opportunities.
• Partner with Facilities to address water quality, equipment, cleanliness, maintenance, and other facility-related needs that support safe and effective aquatics operations.
DIRECT AQUATICS SERVICE & COMMUNITY IMPACT
• Actively provide direct aquatics service, including teaching swim lessons and aquatic classes, lifeguarding, and providing deck supervision to support program and operational needs.
• Support community-based water safety, swim instruction, and aquatic outreach initiatives that advance the YMCA's mission and impact.
SAFETY, COMPLIANCE & ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure compliance with YMCA of Delaware aquatics standards, Emergency Response Plans, Ellis & Associates standards, Delaware Public Health requirements, and other applicable regulations and safety requirements.
• Participate in Association aquatics initiatives and branch responsibilities, including Manager on Duty assignments, branch meetings, Annual Campaign activities, required trainings, and other organizational initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary : $20 - $23
