The YMCA of Central Texas is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as a Special Events Intern in Round Rock, TX.
Under the direction of the Chief Development Officer and Association Special Events Director of the YMCA of Central Texas, the Special Events Interns will work to support the planning, coordination, and execution of YMCA of Central Texas events including community programs, fundraising initiatives, and member engagement activities. This role provides hands-on experience in event management, nonprofit operations, and community outreach while advancing the YMCA’s mission of strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
This is a seasonal, part-time position working approximately 30-35 hours/week with hours Monday-Friday between 9am-3pm.

- Develop a working knowledge of event planning and execution within a nonprofit environment
- Gain hands-on experience coordinating logistics for community events and fundraisers
- Strengthen professional communication skills through interaction with staff, volunteers, vendors, and community partners
- Learn effective strategies for event marketing, promotion, and community outreach
- Build skills in volunteer coordination, including recruitment, scheduling, and supervision
- Understand the fundamentals of nonprofit development, including donor engagement and fundraising support
- Enhance organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
- Gain experience in evaluating event success through data collection, feedback analysis, and reporting
- Demonstrate the YMCA’s core values (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility) in a professional setting
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups
- Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from a college/university program (e.g., in Event Management, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related field)
- Ability to work both independently and part of a team
- Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with social media platforms preferred
- Individual must be able to pass reference checks, a criminal history background check, sex-offender check and pre-employment drug screen
