As the Anchorage Child Care Director, you'll lead a dedicated team that delivers high-quality Before & After School Enrichment (B.A.S.E.) programs and summer camps that strengthen children, families, and our community.

About the Role

The Anchorage Child Care Director provides leadership for approximately 10 licensed child care sites throughout Anchorage during the school year, along with seasonal summer camp programs. Working closely with the Executive Child Care Director, you'll oversee daily operations, support and develop staff, ensure compliance with Alaska Child Care Licensing requirements, and build strong partnerships with families and schools.

• Lead daily operations for multiple licensed child care programs.
• Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.
• Ensure safe, welcoming environments that meet YMCA and Alaska Child Care Licensing standards.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, schools, and community partners.
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, enrollment, budgeting, and program quality.
• Lead summer camp planning and operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve programs, strengthen teams, and enhance the family experience.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, Human Services, Business, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Three to five years of leadership experience in licensed child care, youth development, education, recreation, or a related field.
• At least three years of experience supervising and developing staff.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to travel between Anchorage program locations.

Preferred

• Experience overseeing multiple child care sites or large youth programs.
• Knowledge of Alaska Child Care Licensing requirements.
• Experience with budgeting, staffing, and operational planning.
• YMCA experience is welcomed but not required.
