**This is a part-time position. The shift is every Saturday 5:45am-11:00am at the YMCA and day/evening shifts at our offsite location (YMCA Gael Center)**
GENERAL FUNCTION:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the general direction of the Member Services Manager, Member Services Staff will operate the Front Desk, provide Member Services and open/close the facility. This front-line position is integral in serving our community. maintaining accurate member records, selling merchandise, and completing clerical tasks as directed. We are looking for a candidate who is willing to pick up shifts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow opening or closing checklists as needed for your shift.
- Responsible for checking in Members and signing in guests and program participants.
- Must be knowledgeable of program information, facility schedules, class times, locations, instructors and fees.
- Accountable for accurately registration procedures for program and memberships. Collects fees, writes receipts and secures money and registration paperwork in the proper locations.
- Answers incoming calls in a timely manner.
- Gives tours of the facility to potential members.
- The Front Desk Area must be kept clean and orderly for ease of use by all.
- All staff members are responsible for the safety of YMCA Members, Guests and other Staff while on duty. Fix problems you are able to, block off any areas that you cannot fix and notify a senior staff member. Document everything.
- Implement membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Model relationship-building skills in all interactions. Resolve problems to ensure member satisfaction.
- Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members.
- Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Documents any needed changes or updates.
- Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to loud depending on activities in the building.
- No cell phones/ smart watches/ Bluetooth devices/ earbuds (IOS or Android) are permitted during lifeguard shifts.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must be responsible and dependable.
- Must be a team player.
- Must communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
- Must be able to read with a high level of comprehension and express oneself accurately through written words.
- Must have basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and fractions.
- Must be able to make change accurately.
- Must be comfortable engaging people of all ages from a variety of backgrounds.
- Must have basic computer skills and two years of front-desk experience.
