What are the responsibilities and job description for the Older Adult Center Zumba Instructor position at YM&YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood?

We are looking for a Zumba instructor who can work in our program with Older Adults looking to increase mobility, learn new dances and improve overall health.
Essential Functions:

- Candidate should perform duties in a way that exhibits cultural sensitivity and attention to individual participant' needs.
- Report to work as scheduled with ample time for set up of exercise room .
- Prepare and facilitate lesson plans for Senior Fitness classes.
- Work closely with the Program Coordinator to build a positive environment and welcoming community centered on health and wellness.
- Exhibit enthusiasm and direction to program attendees, enhancing their overall fitness and taking an interest in their past fitness experience.
- Work closely with a support staff member (Recreational Therapist & Program Coordinator) in the preparation, facilitation, and clean-up of programs.
- Oversees and ensures the proper use and maintenance of equipment and the program space.
- Ensure that the quality and quantity of instruction provided is consistent with the stated objectives of the program
- Maintain a daily record of student attendance in accordance with DFTA policy
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Zumba Gold or Silver Sneaker certification
- Experience working with older adults in a extracurricular setting
- Experience especially with older adults preferred
- At least a high school diploma – college degree or training certificate strongly preferred
- Proven ability to exercise judgment and sound decision making
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to speak professionally to participants, and staff members
- Experience working in a multicultural, urban community
- Bilingual English/Spanish a preferred
- Experience promoting the intellectual, social, cultural, and emotional well-being of members
- Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at time of hire
SCHEDULED:
- Part-time; 1 to 2 hours a week
COMPENSATION:
- $50 per hour
