Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Fremont, CA
Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer supports New Product Introduction (NPI) at our Fremont facility, working from Engineering 3D models to plan, build and refine new semiconductor equipment systems. You will bridge Engineering and Production, ensuring new designs can be built efficiently, consistently and with high quality before release to volume manufacturing.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Own the transition of new products from Engineering to production in an NPI environment, building complex semiconductor capital equipment systems directly from Engineering 3D models (CAD) and released BOMs
- Review 3D models, assembly drawings and ECOs during design and prototype phases; provide design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly (DFM/DFA) feedback to Engineering
- Develop assembly sequences, work instructions, routings and process documentation from 3D models to build first-article, prototype and pilot systems
- Lead build readiness, first-build and pilot-build execution; document lessons learned and drive corrective actions back into the design
- Manage BOM and engineering change flow (PLM/ERP), ensuring model, BOM and work instruction accuracy across revisions
- Design and install equipment; integrate subsystems such as wet/dry process modules, fluid and gas delivery, vacuum, electrical and wafer handling and transport
- Partner with Design, Process, Controls, Supply Chain and Quality engineers to resolve build issues, shortages and delays in real time
- Work with suppliers and contractors on fabrication, sourcing and supplier readiness for new parts and assemblies
- Define and validate production processes, test procedures and quality criteria; support system-level test, qualification and shipment readiness
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost, cycle time and build variation while maximizing quality and yield, and scale processes from prototype to volume production
- Create and deliver training for technicians and assemblers on new and existing assembly processes
- Ensure manufacturing procedures follow safety, SEMI S2 and environmental regulations
Qualifications
- 3 years as a manufacturing engineer, NPI engineer or similar role, preferably in semiconductor or capital equipment manufacturing
- Proven experience building or transitioning new products from Engineering 3D models, assembly drawings and BOMs to production
- Proficiency reading and navigating 3D CAD assemblies (SolidWorks preferred) and working with PLM/ERP systems; strong knowledge of GD&T
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, tool design, and design for manufacturability/assembly
- Familiarity with semiconductor process equipment and subsystems (e.g. wet/dry process, vacuum, fluid and gas delivery, electrical/controls) and quality assurance techniques
- Ability to create work instructions, assembly documentation and process controls for low-volume, high-mix builds
- Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations; SEMI S2 familiarity is a plus
- Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple builds and shifting priorities in a fast-paced NPI environment
- Strong problem-solving, communication and cross-functional teamwork skills
- Proficiency with MS Office; Lean/Six Sigma exposure is a plus
- Ability to occasionally work late shifts
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or Manufacturing Engineering (or a related technical discipline); post-graduate degree is a plus
Compensation:
- The base salary range for this position is $85,000 –$95,000 per year; higher compensation may be available depending on advanced skills and/or specific experience.
- YES also offers a performance-based annual bonus and a competitive benefits package, which includes a 401(k) match, medical, dental, vision and life insurance, in addition to flexible PTO.
