The Night Auditor is responsible for managing essential tasks during overnight shifts at the hotel. This role involves a combination of administrative and customer service duties, such as checking in/out guests and reconciling financial transactions. The Night Auditor collaborates with various departments and responds to guest inquiries, contributing to a smooth and secure operation during nighttime hours. Their goal is to provide a positive guest experience and maintain accurate financial records during the night shift.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with late check-ins and early check-outs, answering guest inquiries, and addressing any overnight issues or emergencies. Night Auditors must provide the same level of guest service as day staff, albeit with potentially fewer resources available.
- Completing the daily accounting and financial transactions of the hotel, which involves closing out the day's accounts and starting the new day's accounting cycle. This includes verifying and balancing entries, posting room charges, and processing payments.
- Reviewing the day's financial transactions for accuracy, including charges posted to rooms, payments received, and any adjustments. The Night Auditor must identify any discrepancies and take corrective actions as needed.
- Generating financial reports that summarize the day's business activity for hotel management.
- Communicate with the housekeeping department to update them on room statuses, ensuring that the front desk has accurate information for the next day's arrivals.
- Taking new room reservations for future dates, either by phone or online, and answering any questions about hotel policies, rates, and availability.
- Perform minor clerical duties this can include organizing the front desk, preparing documents for the next day, and ensuring that any messages or requests for day staff are clearly communicated.
- Addressing any late-night needs or complaints in a manner that maintains or improves guest satisfaction.
- Enroll guests in the hotel's loyalty program and explaining the benefits. Ensuring returning guests receive recognition and any special benefits to which they are entitled.
- Encourage guests to provide feedback on their stay and managing any follow-up that may be required based on that feedback.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Prior full-service hotel experience
- Previous Opera Experience is preferred
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong mathematical acumen
- Proficiency in computer keyboarding skills required.
- Ability to multi-task and organize time effectively and efficiently.
- Able to read and write English.
