Job Summary: The Design Engineer is responsible for the engineering of new product and modifying existing product for improvements while working within time schedules and meeting quality parameters, customer needs, market needs, and manufacturing capabilities.

Starting Wage: The base starting rate is $37.00 per hour. The final offer may vary based on factors such as relevant knowledge, skills, experience, and business needs. Compensation decisions are determined by the specific requirements of the position and the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Design products based on physical or defined constraints.

· Uses CREO to develop designs and create drawings.

· Acts as product technical expert for production, sales, and service departments.

· Coordinates a product’s development process from concept through production release, including prototype building, testing, product BOM, and drawings.

· Continuously looks for improvements within the design and manufacturing of products.

· Participates in design reviews to assure all disciplines involving the manufacturing of the product are in agreement.

· Writes professional reports as needed to support the design project.

· Works within the constraints of the project budget.

· Documents best practices.

· Manages the demands of developing multiple projects at one time.

· Adheres to and supports 5S 1.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

· Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or closely related technical field.

· Agriculture or farming background preferred.

· Demonstrated successful experience as an engineer within a product design and manufacturing environment.

· Proficient with CREO.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn additional software or systems.

· Ability to work in a self-directed mode.

· Problem solving skills.

· Understanding of GD&T.

· Working knowledge of welding, forming and other manufacturing processes.

· Technical knowledge of agricultural equipment, a plus.

· Experience with FEA software preferred.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to write or verbally communicate technical instructions.

· For safety, performance and productivity, must be able to read, write, and speak English.

· Experience in product design, preferably in a manufacturing/industrial environment.

· Must have a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

· This job is primarily sedentary but requires intermittent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, reaching, grasping/gripping, and climbing.

· This position requires the physical abilities and dexterity to operate all standard office equipment, including but not limited to: computers, keyboards, telephone, scanners, and others as directed.

· This position requires visual, verbal and hearing acuity: must have vision ability to perform work and see a computer screen or written material and have the ability to read details on drawings and sketches; depth perception; must be able to talk and hear with the ability to answer the telephone or communicate in person.

· Ability to work a non-standard schedule when required.

· Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time and occasionally up to 50 pounds; may occasionally be required to assist with moving and/or lifting equipment.

· Work is typically performed in a temperature controlled environment.

· Occasionally will work in the manufacturing area requiring safety footwear, safety glasses, and hearing protection. May also be required to observe or conduct experiments in the test field and may travel between facilities.

· Work is done in an office setting, in the R & D shop, production floor or in the field.

· Occasionally exposed to inclement weather and varying seasonal temperatures.

Compensation is based on skill, experience, and qualifications and will be discussed during the interview process.
