Overview:

The Yeshivah of Flatbush is seeking a Part-Time Computer Science Teacher to teach AP Computer Science A for the 2026–2027 school year.

Qualified candidates should have a strong background in computer science, programming, or a related field. We are seeking an educator who is passionate about working with high school students and can make complex concepts accessible through a student-centered approach. Candidates should have strong communication skills, proficiency in Java programming, and a desire to grow professionally within our department.

In this course, students design and implement Java programs to develop algorithms, work with data structures, and solve complex problems.


Responsibilities:

  • Teach 1 late-afternoon section of AP Computer Science A to high school students (Mon–Thurs)
  • Develop and implement an engaging curriculum aligned with the AP Computer Science A framework and College Board standards
  • Teach Java programming concepts, including object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, and problem-solving strategies
  • Design lesson plans, coding assignments, projects, and assessments that promote computational thinking and analytical skills
  • Prepare students for success on the AP Computer Science A exam through rigorous instruction and targeted review
  • Foster an engaging and supportive classroom environment that encourages creativity, logical reasoning, and intellectual curiosity
  • Assess student progress through quizzes, exams, projects, and coding assignments to support student growth and inform instruction
  • Provide academic support and feedback to students both inside and outside the classroom
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, instructional strategies, and departmental initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and faculty regarding student progress and academic expectations


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Java programming and object-oriented programming concepts
  • Familiarity with algorithms, data structures, and problem-solving strategies
  • Prior teaching experience preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with the AP Computer Science A curriculum and College Board expectations preferred
  • Individuals with relevant academic or professional experience and a strong interest in teaching are encouraged to apply
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for working with high school students and commitment to ongoing professional growth


  • Compensation (commensurate with experience):

    $13,000–$16,000
