Manufacturing Controls & Process Engineer IJob Type: Permanent | Direct HireLocation: Onsite – Orange, CTSalary: $80,000Role OverviewWe are seeking a Manufacturing Controls & Process Engineer I to provide hands-on, floor-based engineering support within a Food & Beverage manufacturing environment. This role is heavily embedded in daily plant operations and is ideal for an engineer who thrives on the production floor, enjoys troubleshooting live equipment, and has strong working knowledge of PLC-controlled manufacturing systems.This is not a desk-based role. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time on the plant floor working directly with production, maintenance, and quality teams to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide hands-on troubleshooting and support for PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment, including sensors, actuators, I/O, drives, and HMIsActively support day-to-day production operations by diagnosing and resolving process, automation, and equipment issues in real timePartner with Controls, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to coordinate PLC logic changes, system improvements, and equipment upgradesSupport and optimize manufacturing processes to improve throughput, yield, quality, uptime, and equipment reliabilityLead and support continuous improvement initiatives, including downtime reduction, waste elimination, and process standardizationDevelop, maintain, and improve SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation related to controls, automation, and manufacturing processesTrain and mentor operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel on equipment operation, controls functionality, and basic PLC troubleshootingSupport root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to equipment failures, process deviations, quality issues, and safety eventsCollaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, QA, and Sanitation to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient productionEnsure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, OSHA, and internal safety and quality standardsMaintain accurate documentation for process changes, controls updates, and continuous improvement initiativesRequired QualificationsStrong working knowledge of PLC-controlled manufacturing equipmentHands-on experience troubleshooting automation, electrical, and mechanical systems in a manufacturing environmentExperience working in Food & Beverage or other GMP-regulated manufacturing environmentsAbility to troubleshoot I/O, HMIs, sensors, and automated equipment on the production floorComfortable spending the majority of time in a hands-on, plant-floor roleStrong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing settingPreferred ExperienceExperience supporting or modifying PLC logic in collaboration with Controls or Engineering teamsExposure to continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM)Experience training operators or maintenance teams on equipment and controls systemsIdeal Candidate ProfileA Process Engineer with strong controls exposure who wants to deepen hands-on manufacturing experienceEnjoys being embedded in operations rather than working behind a deskConfident working directly with operators and maintenance techniciansComfortable troubleshooting live production equipment in a regulated environmentThis position is being recruited by Yellow Door Recruiting LLC on behalf of the client.
