What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experiential Social Studies Teacher position at YELLOW BREECHES EDUCATIONAL CENTER?
Welcome to YBEC, with five campuses across south-central PA, we offer an innovative approach to education that seamlessly integrates experiential learning with adventure. We take pride in our commitment to maintaining a low student-to-staff ratio, ensuring a maximum of 1:4 students per elementary classroom and 1:6 students per secondary school classroom. This deliberate approach allows our educators, counselors, and adventure professionals to provide individualized attention, fostering a profound sense of belonging. By tailoring our teaching methods, our dedicated educators actively engage, encourage, and empower students. This approach fosters their academic, social, and personal growth both within and beyond the classroom walls.
If you have a love for history and a willingness to bring that to life for even the most apprehensive students, apply today to join our team of educators. Our history curriculum rotates through US History, World History and Civics. A Bachelor's Degree is required to obtain teacher certification.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience at Yellow Breeches Educational Center by:
- Creating a dynamic curriculum that captivates students' interests and fosters a deep understanding of the subject matter.
- Delivering interactive lessons in our small classroom environment to enhance student learning and comprehension.
- Promoting inclusivity, respect, and collaboration within the classroom to empower students to thrive academically and personally.
- Working closely with fellow educators to develop interdisciplinary activities and lessons that enrich students' educational experiences.
- Planning and leading diverse experiential learning opportunities such as local field trips, museum visits, career exploration sessions, college tours, and transition-related activities to broaden students' horizons.
- Supporting the Adventure Teacher in planning and executing weekly adventure trips, including activities such as mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), hiking, and other outdoor adventures.
- Contributing to the planning and participation in week-long adventure and experiential camping trips, fostering teamwork, leadership skills, and outdoor appreciation among students.
