Controller (Knoxville, TN)
Yee-Haw Brewing Company is hiring a Controller to join our growing organization. As a key member of the finance team, the Controller reports to the Director of Finance and assumes a critical role in managing the accounting function for the company. Partnering with the Senior Accountant and Director of Finance, the Controller will primarily manage Yee-Haw’s accounting needs, including the month-end close process.
The Controller must be a strong general ledger accountant with the ability to analyze accounting records, including financial statements, to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined by ownership. The ideal candidate will partner with the Director of Finance & Senior Accountant on the accounting operations of the organization which include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, preparation and compliance with monthly tax reporting, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card accounts, accounts receivable, deferred revenue, accruals, prepaid expenses, investments, intercompany accounts, and fixed assets.
- Analyze accounts, records, reports, accounts receivable and payable, journal entries, general and subsidiary ledgers and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness. Investigate and resolve accounting problems.
- Lead an accurate and timely month-end close process, including balance sheet reconciliation and overhead cost allocation
- Assist in monthly inventory reconciliation process to ensure accurate COGS and balance sheet
- Answer inquiries from management and vendors by researching and analyzing historical and current transactions and drawing conclusions.
- Prepare documentation for external auditors, including preparing schedules, compiling invoices and payments, and other responsibilities as needed.
- Assist in special projects and report preparation as requested by manager
Tax Reporting Responsibilities
- Complete and submit all monthly sales tax and alcohol reporting
- Prepare and submit annual property tax returns, business tax licenses, and other various tax reporting requirements as needed
Accounts Receivables
- Send out accurate invoices, record cash receipts and reconcile accounts receivable
- Follow up with customers regarding outstanding invoices
- Support daily cash management: processing of daily sales deposits, check deposits, bank transfers and ACH bank deposits and withdrawals.

- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office with strong emphasis on Excel
- MUST be proficient in Vlookup, pivot tables and advanced excel formulas
- Able to solve complex problems by analyzing variables and finding appropriate solutions. Must be able to recognize anomalies and respond appropriately.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business
- Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience required
- Supervisory experience required
- GAAP 5 years preferred
- Public accounting 3 years preferred
