About the Role
As a Little Wing & Rookies Music Instructor, you will be responsible for all music education-related elements within group lessons, creating a dynamic, engaging experience that introduces young learners to foundational music concepts. You will positively embody rock and roll and be responsible for creating a valuable student experience that helps our students learn music and life skills in a fun, age-appropriate environment.
This role focuses on teaching preschoolers, toddlers, and early elementary students (ages 4-7) through interactive, game-based music education using hand percussion, simplified instruments, and classic rock songs.
What You'll Do
Music Instruction:
- Deliver engaging weekly group music lessons designed for young learners
- Teach foundational music skills including rhythm, song structure, melody, and dynamics through play-based activities
- Use hand percussion, simplified rock instruments, and interactive games to introduce core music concepts
- Create and document thoughtful, age-appropriate lesson plans that challenge and inspire students
- Adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and developmental stages
Student & Parent Engagement:
- Communicate regularly with parents on their child's progress and development
- Be visible and accessible in the school, interacting positively with families
- Create a welcoming, supportive environment that fosters a love of music
- Assist with rehearsals and program events as needed
Program Support:
- Pitch in during canceled lessons in the overall execution of the program
- Assist with basic maintenance and organization of instruments and materials
- Adhere to the School of Rock Code of Conduct and safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy
What We're Looking For
Required Experience & Skills:
- 2 years' experience teaching and/or performing music professionally
- Experience teaching young children (preschool to early elementary age preferred)
- Knowledge of music fundamentals and ability to teach music basics in an age-appropriate way
- Excellent ability to engage with a wide range of students and families
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Resourceful problem-solver with a positive, patient, and enthusiastic demeanor
- Passion for teaching and inspiring young musicians
- Good judgment and ability to create a safe, inclusive learning environment

- Working musician with formal music training
- Patient, flexible, and genuinely enthusiastic about working with young children
- Ability to think creatively and make music education fun and interactive
