Job Summary
Under the supervision of the school administrator or designee, provide first aid care for ill or injured students under guidelines and supervision provided by the student's medical doctor and/or the health supervisor; perform related clerical duties and routine record keeping, and assist in the maintenance of an orderly and safe learning environment; and perform related work as required. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Administer routine first aid and screen ill or injured students in accordance with school regulations and procedures. • Administer oral medications according to school adopted policies and procedures. • Refer emergencies, serious illnesses, or injuries to the health supervisor and site administrator. • Maintain student health database, create and maintain demographic data and files, write queries and generate a variety of periodic and special reports, lists, labels, and other data from the student database as requested by the health supervisor or school administrator. • Screen student records for proper immunizations, alert parents of required immunizations, maintain communication with parents until immunizations are complete, and update student health database with current immunization information. Informe the school administrator of incomplete immunizations. • Maintain health office in sanitary and orderly condition; clean and sterilize cots/equipment; • Requisition, received, and store health care supplies; maintain inventory of supplies/equipment; prepare and replenish Frist Aid kits for distribution to teachers, instructors, campus supervisors, and other school staff. • Inspect students for head lice, follow up on positive cases, inspect for elimination of lice, and consult with parents regarding use of appropriate anti-lice products. • Care for students, who check into the nurse’s office, contact parents, send students home as directed by the nurse consult or administrator and maintain a daily log and student database.
