Position Overview:
The Disassembler is responsible for the teardown and inspection of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders to support repair, maintenance, and remanufacturing operations. This position involves safely disassembling cylinders, cleaning and evaluating components, and identifying parts that require replacement or rework. The Disassembler works closely with the assembly, machining, and quality teams to ensure components are properly prepared for the next stage of the process. Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to safety and quality standards are critical to success in this role.
Essential Duties: (Additional duties may be assigned as required.)
- Disassemble hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders according to work instructions, diagrams, and specifications.
- Safely remove rods, pistons, seals, and other components using proper tools and techniques.
- Clean, organize, and prepare parts for inspection, repair, or reassembly.
- Clearly mark all cylinder components with appropriate and relevant job number.
- Inspect cylinder components for wear, damage, or defects and report findings to supervisors or quality personnel.
- Identify parts that can be reused, repaired, or replaced.
- Maintain accurate records of disassembly work performed.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Collaborate with assembly, machining, and quality teams to ensure smooth workflow.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Able to prioritize jobs.
- Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Mechanical background
- Ability to read basic blueprints.
- Able to read a tape measure and calipers.
- Prior heavy assembly experience a plus
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Attention to detail is critical.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to wear safety glasses and hard sole/close toed shoes with a low heel when walking through the manufacturing shop and/or repair shop whether as part of performing their job or just passing through. In addition, long hair must be tied back when around hazards of flame, machinery, or equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
