Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position in Durham, NC for a Minister of Children, Students, and Adult Discipleship. We are seeking someone to help lead children’s ministry, student ministry, and adult discipleship at Yates Baptist Church in ways that are thoughtful, relational, organized, and sustainable.
This minister will help children, students, and adults grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and will work with church staff, lay leaders, and families to build ministry that is faithful, well-coordinated, and responsive to the life of the congregation. The role includes planning and leading programming for children and students, supporting and communicating with families, recruiting and encouraging volunteers, assisting with adult discipleship and Sunday School life, helping foster senior adult engagement, and strengthening the church’s shared life in faith, fellowship, and service.
The Minister will also help guide special events, outreach opportunities, curriculum planning, and seasonal ministry activities, while working collaboratively with church leadership to support the ongoing spiritual formation of the congregation.
Qualifications
- Individual of proven Christian character
- Demonstrated ability to lead and nurture children, students, and adults in faith formation and discipleship
- Strong skills in planning, organization, administration, and volunteer coordination
- Ability to teach and communicate effectively with a wide range of ages and backgrounds
- Experience developing and supporting engaging ministry programs and outreach efforts
- Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, lay leaders, and families
- Commitment to fostering a welcoming and caring congregational environment
- Master’s degree with a focus on children’s and student ministries from an accredited seminary or divinity school preferred, or bachelor’s degree with at least three years of ministerial experience
Salary & Benefits
Salary up to $65,000, depending on education and experience.
