Job Summary
Yarde Metals is looking for a material handler to join our Operations Team. A material handler moves material throughout the warehouse by safely operating a forklift, side loader, and overhead crane. The material handler selects material according to work order instructions.
Responsibilities
- SAFETY FIRST!
- Organize pull tickets according to location and material type and retrieve material from inventory racking system..
- Safely operate powered industrial vehicles (forklifts, side loaders, and overhead cranes).
- Measure material using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
- Transport and locate material into the inventory racking system.
- Deliver material to designated saw locations for processing.
- Record and report any inventory discrepancies.
- Conduct final inspections to ensure the correct material was pulled for machine operators.
- Tag and return material drops from processed jobs into appropriate locations.
- Stage completed orders in appropriate shipping and loading zones for delivery.
- Prepare and dispose of scrap.
- Perform additional warehouse duties as directed by supervisor.
Requirements amp; Qualifications
***This is a SAFETY SENSITIVE position: requires operating heavy machinery.***
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read and understand English to follow work instructions.
- History of working safely and productively.
- Forklift operation experience strongly preferred.
- Basic math skills required to convert decimals and fractions and to accurately use and read tape measures and calipers.
- Dependable, punctual, and works well with others.
- Able to pass background check, drug screen, physical, meet physical requirements of the position.
- Ability to pass a human performance evaluation to meet physical requirements of the job (lifting up to 70 lbs., pushing, pulling, etc.)
- Willingness to work required overtime.
