Job Summary
Yarde Metals is looking for a warehouse associate to join our Operations Team in Hauppauge, NY. A warehouse associate is responsible for safely filling orders, replenishing inventory, loading/unloading trucks and moving material in the warehouse.
Job Responsibilities.
- Safety First!
- Safely load and unload material from trucks using cranes, forklifts, and side loaders.
- Retrieve material from inventory according to work instructions.
- Verify accuracy of material retrieved by measuring and comparing product information on tag to work order.
- Construct skids and use shipping supplies to properly wrap and prepare product for delivery using tape measures, banding equipment, and nail guns.
- Tag material, verify product against work order, and perform last piece visual inspection.
- Inspect inbound material using measuring tape measures and calipers.
- Record and report material discrepancies.
- Locate material into inventory racking system.
- Prepare orders for shipment via common carriers, UPS, and customer pick-up.
- Expedite orders and process received and shipped material in system.
- Print material certifications and shipping tickets.
- Continually inspect materials and report material defects.
- Perform additional duties as instructed by manager.
Requirements
***This is a SAFETY SENSITIVE position: requires operating heavy machinery***
- High School graduate or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Warehouse material handling and forklift experience strongly preferred.
- Must be able to read, understand, and carry out work instructions in English.
- Must be able to use and read a tape measure.
- Must have strong critical thinking skills and ability to safely work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to meet physical requirements of position (e.g., continuous standing and lifting 70 pounds).
