Chief Financial Officer

Yampa Valley Electric Association is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead our financial operations and serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors.

The Role: As CFO, you'll oversee all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, and regulatory compliance. You'll translate financial data into clear insights that inform decision-making across the organization. This role requires both technical financial expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively with operations, engineering, and member experience teams.

Your Qualifications:

• 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience with at least 5 years in senior management roles
• Proven track record leading finance teams, developing financial talent, and driving organizational results
• Deep expertise in GAAP accounting standards and financial statement preparation
• Strong knowledge of RUS accounting and reporting requirements
• Experience with utility accounting, rate design, and cost-of-service studies
• Demonstrated success managing capital planning, treasury operations, and debt financing
• Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities
• Experience presenting to boards of directors and providing strategic counsel to executive leadership
• Electric utility experience strongly preferred; cooperative experience a significant plus
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required (MBA or advanced degree advantageous). Equivalent experience at a senior level will be considered.
• Experience with NISC financial systems or similar utility billing/accounting platforms preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills

Your Responsibilities:

• Lead financial planning, reporting, and analysis.
• Ensure compliance with RUS and and other regulatory requirements.
• Oversee accounting operations and internal controls.
• Provide financial guidance to the Board of Directors.
• Manage relationships with lenders, auditors, and financial partners.
• Support rate design and cost-of-service studies.
• Lead annual budgeting and long-term financial forecasting.
