Yamaha has a rare and exciting opportunity for an Engine Testing Manager to join our Marine team in the greater Chattanooga, TN area. The Testing Manager will lead a team of engineers and/or technicians in the on-water validation of engines and vehicles. In this role, you will lead by example as the team executes technical data collection projects and will also serve as the Testing Chief in product development initiatives by developing and executing test plans. You will frequently be operating and working from a wide variety of high-end boats and other watercraft on open water while collecting data. What you'll be doing:
- Develop test plans, including resource requirements for specific product development projects.
- Determine appropriate levels of Data Acquisition (DAQ) assets and act as DAQ Subject Matter Expert for testing facility.
- Demonstrate outstanding teamwork and collaboration with co-workers at the facility and across Yamaha.
- Be an active member of site leadership team to ensure that the entire division is in a state of continuous improvement.
- Manage department OPEX and CAPEX budgets including monthly forecasting and providing requirements to Site Manager for annual budget creation.
- Compile the department’s quarterly billing and internal chargeback documentation for submission to the Division Manager.
- Ensure ongoing technical training to continuously enhance the capabilities of department staff.
- BS in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or Computer Science.
- Mastery of advanced Data Acquisition systems.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Proven experience in technical management including team leadership.
- Strong understanding of product development process.
- Strong understanding of the marine industry is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and safety standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Must be able to adapt to different cultures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.
