What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing MRO - 1st Shift position at YAMADA North America, Inc.?
Job Summary: This position coordinates the ordering of parts for production and the maintenance departments by quotation, requisition and the purchase order systems in place. Covers shipping and receiving department when needed.
Essential Functions:
* Converts department requisitions to purchase orders (PO).
* Contact vendors to issue PO and receive confirmation, request RFQ’s/compare offers.
* Tracks progress of all open PO’s via open order report.
* Files PO’s and packing lists upon completion and in our online purchasing file.
* Negotiate cost reduction with MRO Suppliers.
* Track cost reduction for month reports.
* Request and review quotes for new products and services if dept. requests.
* Receive requests for new vendors and enter the information as needed.
* Respond to questions from import brokers for US Customs clearance.
* Back up for receiving department and UPS shipments and ensure proper signatures are obtained.
* Completes Un-Voucher reports for accounting.
* Logs commercial invoices for customs record keeping.
Other Functions:
* Interact with co-workers, customers, outside vendors and government officials.
* Maintains a clean working environment.
* Continuously seeks to improve processes and procedures.
* Promotes a safe working environment for all associates.
Requirements:
Education: Preference will be given to candidates with Bachelor Degree but not necessarily required.
Experience: 1 to 3 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive preferred or a related field.
Skills: Position requires proficiency in Microsoft Excel, competency in all Microsoft Office applications, familiarity with mechanics and engineering terminology, high level of accuracy in typing and filing, good interpersonal, time management and organizational skills as well as the ability to multi-task and work in a team environment.
Working Conditions: The position requires the ability to work in a climate-controlled office, walk on concrete floors, lift up to 30 pounds, perform repetitive keystrokes on a continual basis and occasionally bend, kneel, twist and reach.
