Responsibilities
The candidate will support numerous scientific projects. The ideal candidate will serve as core support staff for the PI. Responsibilities include participating in the design and execution of experiments; analyzing, recording, and organizing data; and presenting and sharing results to colleagues and to the PI. Technical responsibilities include next-generation sequencing, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, PCR, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, mammalian cell culture, and animal experiments. Contributions will be appropriately recognized by authorship on publications. Additional responsibilities include tracking and ordering laboratory supplies, maintaining a thorough understanding of laboratory safety regulations and procedures, and managing animal protocols. Opportunities for career development include training staff and students, managing finances, and interfacing with collaborating laboratories. The candidate will also interact with external vendors and EHS. Note that this is a staff position, not a trainee position.
Qualifications
- M.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
- At least 2-3 years of experience working in a molecular biology lab (this could be part of undergraduate training).
- Experience with two or more of the following molecular biology techniques: molecular biology techniques (PCR and cloning), tissue culture, flow cytometry, western blotting, next-generation sequencing, single-cell sequencing, immunohistochemistry.
- Experience with handling mice. Familiarity with injections and tissue harvest is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to write scientific reports and prepare presentations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism, and effectively multi-task.
- Effective communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment (including occasional laboratory work and digital responsiveness outside of standard working hours).
- Familiarity with computational tools (python, terminal) is not required, but preferred.
Salary
Starts at $72,000 and is commensurate with experience.
