What are the responsibilities and job description for the Radiology Technologist Residency Program for MRI and CT position at Yale New Haven Health?

· Join our paid Residency Program and gain clinical training and didactic education through our Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging. This is a unique paid opportunity for board-certified radiologic technologists to further their careers by receiving advanced modality training and certification without any loss of income. Two separate hybrid pathways are available - a 6-month Computed Tomography (CT) program or a 12-month Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program.
· Work in our new $838M, 505,000 square foot Adams Neurosciences Center opening in 2027. The largest project of its kind in state history, the center is being designed to make it even easier for the entire clinical team to collaborate throughout each patient’s continuum of care, starting with the prehospital setting, during hospitalization and through early recovery.
Qualifications
ARRT-certified in Radiography by the start date of either program. Two cohorts of residents will be accepted each year (beginning in January and July).
Responsibilities:
- 1. Under faculty supervision, performs diagnostic exams utilizing complex imaging equipment. Efficiently follows routine protocols, demonstrates minimal judgement, and has minimal inactive utilization.
- 1.1 Follows routine protocols and refers to referring doctor's exam requisition to ensure correct exam is performed.
- 2. Under faculty supervision, performs quality and compassionate patient care in order to ensure patient cooperation, safety, and satisfaction. Demonstrates 100% accuracy on safety screening and continues to promote the pledge for Service Excellence.
- 2.1 Thoroughly explains the procedure to the patient and offers them emotional support to endure and complete the exam.
- 3. Under faculty supervision, performs various record keeping, customer service functions to ensure exam changes are properly billed and communicates feedback in order to ensure goals of department are met and operations run efficiently.
- 3.1 Consistently selects the correct patient from worklists.
- 4. Participates in various learning opportunities in order to further his/her own personal knowledge and assist in expanding knowledge of others.
- 4.1 Regularly attends scheduled program lecture times and participates with a positive and inquisitive attitude.
- 5. To enhance patient experience in diagnostic imaging, all staff will be responsible to achieve patient satisfaction scores set by the department on the Tests and Treatment section of our Press Ganey Survey.
- 5.1 Resident will present themselves in a friendly and courteous manner; staff identify themselves and their role while encouraging a patient and family centered experience.
