Nuclear Med. Technologist Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Med. Technologist to join our team at Yale New Haven Health.
About the Role
- The technologist will be responsible for patient safety, radiation safety, and state and federal regulations.
- The technologist will perform high-quality nuclear medicine exams and PET-CT imaging while adhering to strict safety protocols.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Patient Safety: The technologist will conduct pre-screenings for contraindications, maintain aseptic technique, and adhere to radiation safety and regulations when working with radioactive materials and patients.
- Radiation Safety: The technologist will ensure compliance with nuclear regulatory commission and state of Connecticut department of public health regulations.
- Quality Control: The technologist will conduct quality control assessments on all nuclear medicine imaging systems and PET-CT equipment and calibrate instruments and radiopharmaceuticals.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A completion of a formal nuclear medicine program through NMTCB or ARRT is required.
- Associate degree in nuclear technology is preferred.
- Addtional certifications such as Radiology (R), CT, PET, and Nuclear Cardiology Technology (NCT) are also preferred.
Experience as a nuclear medicine technologist is highly desirable.
